The Human Protein Resource program – the Human Protein Atlas

The Swedish Human Proteome Resource (HPR) program is a truly unique initiative set up to allow systematic exploration of the human proteome using antibody-based proteomics. HPR hosts the Swedish Human Protein Atlas (HPA), a related program that aims to systematically generate quality-assured antibodies to all non-redundant human proteins, and to use these reagents to functionally explore human proteins, protein variants and protein interactions. The set of antibodies and the documentation generated through the HPR program is expected to become an important resource for developing new diagnostic tools and drugs. Atlas content has grown rapidly in volume and the latest release (August 2008) contains 6120 antibodies and 5,702,812 images.

Atlas Antibodies, founded in 2006 by the researchers involved in HPR, handles the production, marketing and sales of the antibody products developed and validated in the Human Proteome Resource Center.
