Dilafor AB develops pharmaceuticals from heparin with low anticoagulant
activity. The company was initially built on a clinical finding that women
treated with dalteparin,a low molecular weight heparin, had significantly
shorter labor with fewer complications than controls. This effect was found to
be independent of the anticoagulant effect of dalteparin. DF01, void of
anticoagulation properties, is an active substance for normalizing protracted
labor in clinic that is now tested in Phase II clinical trials. A second active
substance, DF02, has been selected and aims at diminishing severe clinical
manifestations in malaria. Toxicology studies have been completed and Phase I
studies will be initiated in 2009. Further research is ongoing to define other
indications for low anticoagulant heparin analogues. Dilafor AB was established
in 2003 and is privately owned. Members Tags |
