Prof Lars  Klareskog

Professor in Reumatology at the Department of Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm

Professor Klareskog has a background in basic immunology, and was responsible for original discoveries concerning T cell activation as a pathogenetic principle in rheumatoid arthritis. He is currently responsible for translational research in rheumatology at Karolinska Institutet and he has been involved in a number of clinical trial programmes for currently used biologics.

He is a member of the Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institute since 1995 and he serves on the editorial boards of numerous journals. He received the International Carol Nachman Prize for rheumatology research in 2008 and the Söderberg prize for medical research from the Swedish Society for Medicine in 2010.
