Professor in Cell Biology of Forest Trees at the Department of Plant Biology and Forest Genetics, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala
Professor von Arnold’s reseach comprise identification of genes and processes involved in the development of Norway spruce and Scots pine during their life cycles. A current project led by her aims at improving yield for biomass production of Salix, a fast growing plant, and also this plant’s resistance and tolerance against insect pests and pathogens. Technologies and methods involved are molecular genetics, ecophysiology and plant breeding.
Professor von Arnold has been head of the department of Forest Genetics and member of the Board for the Forestry Faculty and for the Faculty of Nature Resources and Agriculture. She is the receiver of excellence support from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences for the period 2009-2014 (12 miljon SEK). She is currently the President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry and is a member of the Board of the Royal Society of Science in Uppsala since 2006.
Professor von Arnold has received the Linneaus´price from ”Fysiografiska sällskapet i Lund” and a Honorary doctorate at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
