A national consortium for studies on chronic inflammatory diseases with combined efforts (Combine) is based at the Department of Medicine at Karolinska University Hospital. The aim of the consortia is to find better methods to prevent and treat chronic inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatic diseases, and to guarantee that the progress rapidly is of benefit for the patients. The consortia has been named “Combine” since new forms of collaboration between researchers, patient organizations, healthcare and researching industry are being created. Combine is funded by the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA), the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF), The Vårdal Foundation, The Knowledge Foundation, Invest in Sweden Agency and Reumatikerförbundet.
