Strategic Centre for Biomembrane Research

The Center for Biomembrane Research (CBR) is a strategic initiative to advance Swedish research on membranes, membrane proteins, and cell membrane related functionality. CBR is located at Stockholm University and hosts a number of internationally competitive research labs. CBR focuses on two closely related research areas: Membrane protein biochemistry (proteomics, bioinformatics, overexpression, purification, and structure-function studies), and Membrane protein assembly, folding, and dynamics. The mission of CBR is to integrate these activities into a coherent structure, providing the possibility to move easily from basic studies on membrane protein assembly to improved systems for overproduction and purification, from the identification of new proteins and protein complexes to their functional and structural characterization, and between experimental studies and computational approaches. The Center for Biomembrane Research (CBR) is funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF).
